Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will my entry be judged?

A: The selection is based on an open competition using three key criteria:

  • Innovation: Breakthrough in product, service or business model and its potential impact
  • Market: having an interesting, immediate and clearly identified market
  • Ability: your team, track record and readiness to do business in the US

Q: Is my company too small to apply?

A: Probably not. As per previous Missions, the balance of the group will also be considered in making the final selection to deliver a message of the diverse nature of the UK’s RAS sector. In a very few cases, some criteria may be relaxed for younger companies presenting profoundly innovative ideas.

Q: When is the deadline for applications?

A: There isn’t one. Entries will be judged on a first-come-first-served basis. So apply now!

Q: How much will it cost?

A: A contribution of £1999 + VAT is required from each selected company. This is heavily subsidised through the support of our public and private sector supporters and includes international and internal travel to the US, accommodation and the mission programme in the US and UK.

Q: Is this aimed at any particular RAS sector (e.g. marine, industrial, health, UAVs, consumer/personal robots)?

A: Absolutely not. The Mission will open doors for you no matter what sector you’re working in. In fact, we will look to refine the programme if there are specific California-based companies or investors you would like to meet.
